Swiss observers in Liaison and Monitoring Teams (LMT) of SWISSCOY / KFOR and the Liaison and Observation Teams (LOT) in EUFOR are tasked in supporting the mission mandate of ensuring a safe and secure environment. The LMT and LOT provides KFOR and EUFOR with situational awareness of the mission area through monitoring and liaison activities with the local institutions, international organizations and particularly through building connections with the local population. Swiss observers are also deployed in various missions for the UN. Among the tasks of the international working teams are observing and reporting on incidents that breach the mission mandates. Furthermore, the teams patrol the mission area to monitor sensitive regions and through building connections with the local populations receive relevant information which allows for an analysis of the security situation. Additionally, Swiss officers are deployed in the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission (NNSC) on the Military Demarcation Line (MDL) between North and South Korea and are responsible for the monitoring of the ceasefire agreement between the two nations.
